My Favorite Yarns for Crochet Baby Items

Crocheting and baby items are two of my favorite things. Some of my very first crochet projects were baby items. One of my favorite things to gift when a friend or family member is pregnant is a crochet baby blanket. I’ve crocheted so many baby gifts that now and I have figured out my favorite yarns to use for crochet baby items. My favorite yarns for crochet baby items are Caron Simply Soft, Caron Cakes and Bernat Baby Blanket Yarn.

I love to use these brands because they are very soft and hold up well to being used and washed. Bernat Baby Blanket Yarn is really soft and has a chenille feel to it. I just love making blankets with it. I have even used it to make a few stuffed teddy bears and several unicorns.

Soft yarns are so important when crocheting items for a baby. You don’t want to irritate their skin with rough yarn.

Another important thing that I consider when picking out yarn for baby items is color options. There are a few brands that I want to try but I’m not impressed with their limited color options. Caron Simply Soft, Caron Cakes and Bernat Baby Blanket Yarn brands have a large variety of colors to choose from.

You can easily find these brands at your local Michael’s or Joann’s (except Caron Cakes unless something has changed recently, it’s not available at Joann’s) or you can shop online for them. I’ve even purchased them on Amazon when I only needed one skein of it.

I also like to use Yarn Bee and I Love This Yarn brands. I just discovered these brands several months ago so the only items I have made with them are beanie hats. Both of these brands offer some amazing color options and their yarn is soft. I am newer to these yarns, but I just love to work with them. The yarn is very nice to work with and the colors are gorgeous. The only downside to Yarn Bee and I Love This Yarn brands is you can’t easily find them anywhere. You can only get them at Hobby Lobby.

If you like to crochet baby items, I have another blog post you may like- My Favorite Free Crochet Baby Patterns. These are some of my go-to baby patterns by some of my favorite crochet designers.

After writing this blog post, I designed a free crochet headband pattern, The OakLeigh Headband. Check it out and be sure to pin it for later!!

Writing this blog post has really shown me that I tend to stick with brands that I’ve used and like and not branch out.  I want to try new yarns but I don’t want to waste money on yarn that I end up not liking.

Are you like this? What brands of yarns are on your list to try? What are some of your favorite brands to use? I would love to hear from you! You can comment below or find me on social- Facebook or Instagram.
