My Favorite Free Crochet Baby Patterns

If you search Pinterest or Google for free crochet baby patterns, you will get an overwhelming amount of information. So, I want to share with you my favorite tried and true free crochet baby patterns that I think you will love as much as I do.

I find so much joy in crocheting baby items. I just can’t help but smile while I am crocheting them.

The great thing about crochet baby items is that you don’t have to know someone that has a baby in order to make them. You can always crochet baby items and donate them. A few summers ago, I made a ton of crochet baby beanie hats and donated them to a hospital that gifts them to newborn babies.

I am sharing with you my favorite free crochet baby patterns for hats, booties, flowers and headbands. I hope that you will enjoy crocheting these free baby patterns as much as I do.

Baby Beanies

This crochet newborn hat is adorable! The hat is great for a boy or a girl. Sewrella has graciously included free patterns for sizes ranging from newborn all the way to child sized hats.  AND…. the hat is part of a set. She also has free patterns for matching booties and a diaper cover. I have made this set several times (minus the booties) and it is so nice! You can find out more information in her blog post.

I love this beanie crochet pattern. I have crocheted so many of these beanies I have lost count. It has been my go-to baby beanie pattern for years. I usually crochet a flower and attach it to the hat to make it even cuter. This free beanie crochet pattern comes in 7 sizes from preemie to adult. To be honest, I feel that the designer was being very modest when she named it basic beanie crochet pattern because it doesn’t look basic at all. It is adorable and very versatile.

This crochet newborn baby beanie is a quick and simple project and will take you no time at all to make. This quick and easy crochet beanie is great for donations or when you need a quick baby gift.

Ok, so I know this blog post is about free crochet baby patterns, but I just had to include this free toddler crochet pattern. It is just so stinkin’ cute!! You will love it. I made one for my boss’s little girl and she just loves to wear it.

Crochet Flowers

I love to add crocheted flowers to the baby girl items that I make. Here are my go-to free crochet flower patterns:

This free crochet flower pattern is great! I use this flower pattern for a lot of my projects because they are the perfect size – not too big and not too small. Of course, you can use a bulkier yarn and make them as big as you want to. I sometimes add a cute little button to the middle of the flower, but they are cute without the button too.

This perfect posy flower pattern is glorious! If you want a nice big 3 layered flower, this is for you! I love to add these to the backside of the Parker Crochet Diaper Cover by Sewrella (free crochet pattern that matches the Parker Newborn Hat that I mentioned above) and I like to add them to tiny newborn beanies because they just look so cute.

This simple crochet flower is so cute! This flower is perfect for when you just a need a little something extra for a beanie or headband. I normally go up a hook size to make them just a little bit bigger.

I used this simple crochet flower pattern a lot for my donated baby beanies.  Not everyone likes big, glorious flowers so I thought I would tone it down just a little to be sure they liked and used the beanie hat.

Baby Booties

I haven’t crocheted very many baby shoes because I just love making the beanie hats so I never really think to make baby shoes to go with them. Here are the two patterns that I really like to use.

These crochet baby booties are adorable and fun to make. I seriously want to make a pair in every color. I change the pattern slightly when it comes to the strap and the little dot that’s for decoration. I do not add a button to the bootie for the strap to attach to; instead I will use the crocheted dot to crochet the strap to the bootie. I liked this pattern so much that I bought the ad-free pdf that she offers, that has more sizes.

I am not going to lie the first time I saw these crochet baby flips flops, I was scrolling through Pinterest and I let out a big “Awwwww” because they are that adorable!

These are perfect for summertime and they will actually fit your babies feet!

Baby Headband

Crochet Shell Headband with flower from Frayed Knot

This crochet headband is just perfect. This is my go-to headband pattern. I love that it’s not too wide or too narrow. I feel like it’s just the right width for a headband. I added my own little spin on the pattern and attached a crochet flower to it. The flower pattern that I like to use is one of those randomly jotted down patterns with very little information, so I have contacted the designer, Frayed Knot, and she was be able to send me a link to the free pattern

The free pattern from Frayed Knot is a headband and a flower. I have never made the headband but I used the flower for the crochet shell headband.

Well, there you have it!!  I would love to see your crochet creations after you use these patterns.
