Double V Stitch Dishcloth : Free Crochet Pattern

The double V stitch dishcloth is a simple, beginner friendly crochet pattern.  If you know how to double crochet, you can easily make this double V stitch dishcloth.

I knew I was going to be traveling this week so, I wanted a quick and easy crochet project. I decided to work on a dishcloth pattern. I wanted a pattern that had a nice look to it and that would be simple and repetitive.  I knew it was going to be hot in Arizona and  like to work with cotton yarn when it’s hot outside.

I just love the textured look that the double V stitch gives. You can easily adjust this dishcloth pattern to make a blanket. You will just want to be sure your starting chain is done in an even number.

If you don’t know how to Double V Stitch, I have a video tutorial.

DOUBLE V STITCH DISHCLOTH PATTERN

MATERIALS
 Cotton Yarn
H8 / 5mm crochet hook
Tapestry needle
Stitch marker
Scissors

ABBREVIATIONS
CH  chain
DC  double crochet
SK  skip
SP  space
ST  stitch

PATTERN
CH 28 or an even number.  I usually chain 28 for a small washcloth and 34 for a larger one.

Row 1 : Place 2DC in the 4th CH from the hook, SK next CH, *2DC in next CH, SK next CH.  Repeat from * until the last ST in the row. Place 1DC in the last ST in row, CH 2 (counts as first 1st DC) and turn.

Row 2 : Place 2DC in SP between the group of DC from previous row (place in between the V). Do this for each group of DC, DC in the last ST in row, CH 2 and turn.

Keep repeating Row 2 until you reach your desired size. Fasten off and weave in ends.

Notes:
If you have trouble seeing the last stitch in the row you can place a stitch marker in the top of your CH 2 and this will let you see where to put your last DC. For Row 1, you can place a stitch marker in the 3rd chain from the hook so you will know to put your first DC at the end of Row 2.

I hope you enjoy this pattern as much as I do. I use this stitch for blankets and in my Sassy Collection.

P.S. I use the word washcloth and dishcloth interchangeably. It’s so annoying but I am working on it. LOL. I am trying to just call them dishcloths because that is what I use them for but here we are. 🙂

Happy Crocheting!
