Free Crochet Pattern: Sunshine Iced Coffee Cup Cozy

I am so excited to share my latest Sunshine crochet pattern with you today. It is one of my favorites so far. I have had so much fun making these and I believe that my amazing pattern testers had a great time too. The Sunshine Iced Coffee Cup Cozy crochet pattern is perfect for summer time and your ice cold drinks.

Say goodbye to sweaty cups and wet, cold hands with these coffee cup sleeves. You can easily adjust this pattern to fit any cup size.

I love iced tea so when I am not drinking coffee you can find iced cold tea in my cup. What is your favorite iced beverage?

I like to use cotton yarn for my cup cozies. Cotton yarn is durable, absorbant and machine washable and dryable. It’s a win win for me.

My favorite cotton yarns to use are I Love This Cotton and WeCrochet’s Dishie Cotton.

As much as I love using colorful variegated yarns, the simple texture really stands out with a solid color.

I get asked all the time about the tags I add to the cozies. You can find them at Angie + Britt. They have a variety of coffee tags to choose from. My favorites are the “Shh Coffee” tags. I really feel like they level up the finished make especially when you are gifting them or selling them. They also have a variety of tea tags and wine tags.

This pattern is beginner friendly and it works up really quickly. The special stitch in this pattern is the Herringbone Half Double Crochet stitch. It is one of my favorites stitches. It has just the right amount of texture to it. If you haven’t worked this stitch before, I have a video tutorial on my YouTube channel just click on the link in the Abbreviations section to watch the quick video showing you how to work the stitch.

ST(S): Stitch(es)
HHDC: Herringbone Half Double Crochet (see below for instructions)
SC: Single Crochet

Gauge

8 SC x 9 rows = 2 in x 2 in

Notes
  • This pattern uses American Standard Terms.
  • I am a very tight crocheter. I highly recommend gauge swatching.
  • The iced coffee cup cozy size in this pattern fits a 24-ounce Starbucks cup.
  • The cozy will also fit a 20-ounce insulated tumbler. For smaller cups, you may want to do fewer rows depending on how far up you want your cozy to be on your cup.
  • My finished cozy measures 7.5 inches long at the center from top to bottom and 4 inches wide at the widest part.
Special Stitch

Herringbone Half Double Crochet (HHDC): Yarn over, insert your hook into the next stitch, yarn over, pull up a loop, pull that loop through the next loop on your hook (kind of like a slip stitch. This will leave you with two loops on your hook. Yarn over, and pull through both loops.
